Playa is beautiful and is definitely going to become the new Cancun for young travellers. It is still touristy however there is more of the real Mexico here than Cancun. I just absolutely loved Playa and it has given me an itch to hopefully one day explore Central America further!
Accommodation: The Yak Hostel
This was one of my favourite hostels because of how chilled out it was. The staff were awesome and the hang out area in the middle is great for pre drinks and for your hangover the next day. Would 100% recommend staying here.
Things to do:
Drink: anywhere and everywhere! There are clubs in the main club area, which are so much fun and you can seriously go out wearing thongs if you want, no one gives a fuck! The clubs have like host kind of people who look after you and because you are a tourist, they will generally assume you have a lot of money and take you to the VIP section, we were very VERY well looked after at the clubs in playa. There are so many cool places to go and the tequila is amazing wherever you go. The Mexican people are amazing and always so much fun so do yourself a favour and do shots with them.
Jardin Del Eden Cenote: This cenote is much more natural than the other one. You can easily get in a collectivo (mini van sort of taxi service thing) and they will take you there for like $5! It is so beautiful and the Yak organises a day to take you so its good to go with them because you can rent snorkelling gear but also go to the hidden parts of the cenote. This is also a good opportunity to make friends with people from the hostel and plan to get drunk that night.
