Igauzu Falls

We weren’t going to have time to see the falls but bad weather in Florianopolis meant that we could leave early and head up to the falls. I am so glad that we got to see them as they are absolutely amazing and leave you speechless that Mother Nature can create something so wonderful. A must do when traveling South America.

How to get there:

There is an airport that you can fly into but you can also take really comfortable buses there for half the price. The buses are still quite expensive however they recline 180 degrees and some have wifi. From Florianopolis it was a 14 hour bus overnight which honestly went so quickly because it’s so easy to sleep on the bus. That’s the easy part though… so you get dropped to the bus station then you take a bus to the city Centre local terminal (this is all in Brazil still) then you find the international bus stop which is outside of the terminal. The bus will be called ‘Argentina’ or Iguazu Falls. You think that sounds easy? WRONG it’s about to get worse. So you get on the bus, which can take up to an hour to arrive, and get to the border where you need to get off the bus and have your passport stamped. Cool so then I just jump back on the bus and head over to the falls? NO. You wait 40+ minutes for the next bus which drives you to the Argentina side of the border… where you get off, get your passport stamped/ checked and reciprocity fee checked… have your bags scanned and then either get on your bus if it decides to wait OR you wait for the next bus to arrive. The frustration increases because it takes you about 2 hours to travel 5km just waiting for buses. Anyway once you get through that part and get to the Bus station in Porte Iguasu Argentina, it’s all very easy and clear. Heaps of bus companies that can get you a return ticket from the town to the national park. You can also book your bus ticket out of there too.

The falls:

They are absolutely amazing! Try and do as much of them as you can but if you run out of time, do the first trail and then do the blue trail because it goes underneath rather than over the top!

Don’t get close to the monkeys: this is not a drill! I always get too close and that’s why I’ve been attacked by 3 monkeys in my life lol but these monkeys are savages. One of them full on chased me and had it’s teeth out, I ran so fast.

The coaties: apparently they have rabies and attack you but all they do is chase you for food. I love them they are so cute.
