Yarra Valley

Stunning sceneries, rolling hills, delicious food… and lots of wine. There is a reason that people travel to Victoria to visit Yarra Valley and the minute you get there, you can see why.

How to get there: You can easily drive here from the city if you have a car. It takes about an hour depending on where you leave from. There are road signs that direct you there and they are brown rather than the usual green signs you see. However, given you travel there for the wineries… you can also hire out a bus to take you and your group to the wineries. Most bus companies will happily wait at the winery for you to finish and then drive you to the next place. This is really what i recommend to truly enjoy your time here.

Things to do:

Vineyards

Yering Station: my personal favourite in the region. It has stunning views and also doesn’t feel as crowded and busy as some of the others do. They have wine tasting but also have a separate barn like area that you can go up to. There is food to eat although it is quite expensive. Yering win a lot of awards for their wines so you must try as many wines as possible when you go to the tasting room.

Domaine Chandon: You come here for Champagne (aka sparkling wine) mostly but they do nice wine and great food! Chandon has really good views and has plenty of room to walk around. The only thing is that it gets VERY busy, particularly on the weekend so I would recommend booking if you are going during peak times.

Punt Road: Much smaller but quite nice and intimate. The staff are really nice and you can try different wines before choosing your favourite drop.

Stones: Basically everyone wants their wedding here because it is so beautiful but also mega expensive. They are open for lunch and dinner depending on where you go. Check out their website for relevant information.

Healesville: Just a little further down the road Healesville is a little town that has a few cool things to do. There is a wildlife sanctuary which has predominantly Australian animals as well as an animal hospital. They also have ‘innocent bystander’ which is a restaurant that also has their own wines, i really recommend checking it out.
